Dehydrated Fruit
Commercial Manufacturing began in 1938 by providing service to the raisin industry in California. With industry advice and input it developed the cleaning systems that still predominate the industry today with air cleaners, cappers, scalping decks, recleaners, riffle washers, and settling tanks. It was also one of the first companies to build vibratory conveyors over 70 feet in length to produce all 14 USDA grades of dehydrated prunes in a single pass. In the heyday of the California fig industry Fresno County had over 100,000 acres in production, and Commercial Manufacturing was at the heart of the processing functions. The dehydrated fruit market is in a new expansion period with the advent of sugar-infused fruits and the popularity of today’s trail mix products.
